Why I needed my mom for 19 years....

Well I feel a little left out I guess. I did post my blog about the songs that remind me of my mother, but I feel as if I need to post something about how my mom has influenced me and helped me to become the person I am today.

I needed a mom....

...to teach me to love my friends , no matter what they do.
-My mom always helped me to see the good in everyone. I would come home talking about the loners at school and she would sit down and talk to me about how they needed to be included. She really helped me to look out for the underdog. Which I did. Ethan, Keith, and Marty are the ones I remember the most.

...to give me the courage to stand up for myself.
-She taught me how to stand up for myself and not let myself or others I love get walked all over. When you need to speak your mind, do it!

...because there are some things that dad just can't handle.
-One day I got the sunburn of my life. I couldn't move for like 3 days and I called my mom and just sat and cried. All I wanted to do was to talk to her! Now how many times have I wanted to call her when I am sick or depressed or having boy problems. My dad will never suffice.

...to show me how to give back to others.

-When my mom loved someone she would do anything in the world for them. She was constantly serving them.

...to help me pick out a prom dress....or I'm just kidding.
-I am so grateful that my mom didn't do this one. However, we did go out for dinner on my prom nights and skipped prom, and I am so grateful for those extra moments with my mom.

...to sing along with me when our favorite songs came on the radio.
-Whether it was blasting our favorite song or making fun of some sappy song, it was always a blast singing with my mom.

...because without my mom in my life I would have had less than I deserve.
-Yes I only had 19 years with my mom but I honestly feel like my mom and I were so close and she was so much a part of my life, that she accomplished her "mom role" in 19 years, what it takes other moms a lifetime to fulfill.

Today there was something about the weather or something that made me miss mom. It reminded me of our shopping and hiding it from Dad adventures. Sister Reese wrote me a letter and said something to the same effect that we had a relationship with mom most girls take a lifetime to gain. She talked about how mom would wait outside for us at mutal and normally just join in.

That was awesome! Thanks for sharing that with us. I like getting to know your mom even though I won't know her for a while yet. :)
