I was born money minded. Let me explain.
I started saving for college all on my own since I was younger than five. When I was about five our allowance was $7 a month. Somehow I saved up tons of my money and would store it in my bear bank and count it everynight!! I enjoyed counting my money and it brought me more comfort to know I had a greater sum of money in my bank than to buy any kind of toy.
In a kindergarten packet I made for my parents I wrote about my favorite color and animal. It also asked what I would do if I had a million dollars. I wrote "SAVE IT!" What 5 year old thinks that!!
To this day I am still the same way. It brings me more happiness to have a lot of money in the bank than to spend it on nice furniture or a nicer car or something. I have never had debt not even a student loan, and I am all the way through school.
So when I was home I was looking through my hope chest and stumbled upon my card box. In it I found 5 or 6 birthday cards from my grandma. Every year she would insert $10 in my card to spend on a gift from her. So rummaging through the cards I opened one that was marked November 1989, and what did I find still in the card, but the $10 still taped to the side. Obviously some money I didn't want to spend.
What might I buy with my $10 you might ask? Well if you are asking yourself that question obviously you don't know me well enough. It will more than likely become $10 more in the bank.....
