Oh How the Times Have Changed

So I was working on Extractions or Indexing as they now call them. Where you transfer marriage certificates and Census records to computer. So I started working on Marriage records and one of the questions on the marriage certificate is: "Is he an imbecile, feeble minded, idiotic, insane, or under guardianship as a person of unsound mind? WOW! I couldn't stop laughing!!! All of these terms are very much socially unacceptable and very derogatory to refer to someone as. Our society has definitely changed a ton in the last 100 years. I am glad I didn't live in that time period, I am sure I would have had to write "yes" for possibly being insane. LOL!
