Tutti Frutti!

So one of my brothers (name has been witheld) REALLY likes the Little Richie song Tutti Frutti! Since Reese and I have totally different taste in music than him, we often ask him about the songs he likes and how he could possibly like this particular song. (He doesn't like our music either, so it's fair) So we asked him what that song even means. It sounds like ridiculous gibberish. I like songs that stir emotions in me.....how can that happen when it makes utterly no sense at all. So one night I thought I would Google the meaning of the song. Maybe some wise person out in the cyber world could make some sense of such nonsense. Well after a little research I came upon this take on it. Maybe it's not really that funny, but for some reason it had us 3 rolling and crying for the rest of the night. Well....just read it.

"Tutti frutti" is the American name for Neopolitan icecream.

"Oh rutti" is a corruption of the French "en route" which means "on the way".

So the first verse sings like so,

Neopolitan icecream, on the way,
Neopolitan icecream, on the way,
Neopolitan icecream, on the way,
Neopolitan icecream, on the way,
Neopolitan icecream, on the way,

Then we get to the line,
"A wop bop a loo bop a lop bam boo"

A "wop bop" is obviously an Italian dance.

"A loo bop" is a dance in the toilet.

So Little Richard is singing about an Italian dance in the toilet.

"A lop bam boom" is obviously complete gibberish.

Enough said!
